Penny Boreham Saban

I am a Psychodynamic Therapist with a longstanding interest in our inner emotional lives and in the ways our relationships and experiences shape us.

I trained in Psychodynamic Practice at the University of Oxford on a rigorous BACP/UKCP-accredited course combining personal, theoretical and clinical development. I am a full clinical member of the BACP and practise in accordance with its ethical framework and requirements for continuing professional development.

I am currently undertaking further research at Oxford as part of my MSt in Psychodynamic Practice. This continues to deepen my thinking about the therapeutic relationship and inform my clinical work.

Specialist experience

Mind and body

I have also undertaken specialist training in pregnancy and infant loss and infertility and am an accredited Pregnancy and Infant Loss and Infertility Practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss.

Before training as a Psychodynamic Therapist, I trained and worked as a Craniosacral Therapist. I qualified at the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy in London and have practised for around 15 years.

This experience has given me a particular sensitivity to the relationship between mind and body and to the ways our emotional experiences may be felt physically as well as psychologically.

Although my approach to psychotherapy is psychodynamic, I bring this awareness of the body into the way I listen and think with my clients.

For me, therapy is something we do together: a space where there is time to think, feel, become curious about ourselves and gradually make sense of things that may have been difficult to understand alone.
